We all still remember August 2007, when Nokia had called for the biggest global battery recall for its BL-5C model batteries which posed a shock hazard to its users. And the most recent one is the Toyota recall for its cars and trucks after a complain regarding its default in the accelerator was registered. So far, there have been many such recalls in the history of India and abroad.
Why do you think these companies are calling for such recalls? They could have easily ignored and passed by giving various reasons for any defaults in their manufacturing or functioning of products to their users or customers and subside the whole matter without creating any hue and cry. But NO, it’s a matter of Brand image for the companies which has forced them to request for an immediate product recall at the time of any causalities or damage to its users, otherwise the company loses its goodwill, respect and hard earned position from the market and if proper care is not taken regarding such issues, can lead to an ultimate failure of the company after a period of time. It is solely the responsibility of the company as recalls are an effort to minimize legal penalties and avoid any further negative publicity and damage to the company.
