Toyota is recalling about 100,000 Corolla model cars in Brazil over acceleration problems.
The report was released by a consumer protection group after discussion with the Japanese automaker.
The recall came just after the Brazilian ministry Minas Gerais ordered a ban on the sales of the best-selling car in the country over safety threat.
Meanwhile, Toyota said it would review the condition of the vehicles' floor mats that had been projected as the prime reason for several accidents.
"The recall is aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of Brazilian consumers," said the advocacy group in a statement.
Toyota "will inform consumers (of the recall) in the coming days," it added.
As per the Minas Gerais ministry, nine Toyota Corollas in the state were involved with accelerator problems. The automaker said that the problems were caused by badly-installed driver-side floor mats.
Meanwhile, several rating agencies have downgraded the automaker, questioning over its product quality.
This is a fresh recall in the saga where the auto giant’s profitability is sure to be hurt.
Recently, the Japanese company also agreed to pay a fine of 16.4 million dollars for hiding for at least four months accelerator pedal problems blamed in more than 50 deaths in the US.
